I’m a little nervous showing you my house, especially since I’ve seen some magazine-worthy homes among my bloggy friends!

I know I am not much of a house cleaner, and my taste, ummm… well my house is not magazine worthy, but it is home.  and I love it.  I hope you like it too.

We bought this home, our first, in November of 2008 (wow, time flies)! 

The Master Suite and attached Nursery are my absolute favorite rooms in the house, where I spend the most time, and have spent the most time fixing up!

We haven’t done too many renovation projects, but the master bath has seen the most changes.  I love the look in here.

Nursery

I still have so many things on my to do list for these rooms!

Here’s just a few:

• replace bath lights (I do not like those Miss Piggy lights)
• niches and beadboard for the medicine cabinet side of the bathroom
• new dressers

That’s a good start.   I’ll post more; I just don’t want to bore you with a super long post :)  (and this gives me some time to clean)

Wanna add a little fun and function to the bathroom medicine cabinet?
I built this cute little planter box for mine!

I like this medicine cabinet over at Ikea Hacker.  The lucky hacker put it in his bathroom during construction.

If part 1 was a 1 (in difficulty), then part 3 is definitely a 3, because I built recessed wall cubbbies/niches for storing towels and baskets of bath supplies (and it was tough, but fun).

I don't mind towel bars, but when a small bath is used by 3 people (soon 4), they just don't provide enough space for towels.

Introduce the hook.

They come in lots of finishes, shapes, and styles; I love them.  So I installed a row of hooks along the molding on top of my new beadboard wall.  Instant bling and lots of places to hang towels.

Now I want a place for some pretty apothecary jars with Q-tips, cotton balls, or whatever... up high enough to be safe from little hands.So I built my own crown molding shelf to top off the wall.

My husband and I bought our first house near the end of 2008, and then I started working 60 hours a week living in my office writing finishing my dissertation.

One of the first things I did when I got a life again was add some oomph and storage! to our tiny master bath.  This was NewYear's weekend of 2009/2010.  I was "only" 24 weeks pregnant.  It was my first ever home improvement project .  I did it all by myself and I am really proud of how it turned out!

Yeah, the before picture looks pretty dull, right?  I took down the single towel bar before standing in the tub to take this picture.  There's Bamm-Bamm looking cute!
